Late Gamer Plays “Wolfenstein The New Order” By: Hidai Moya

Wolfenstein is the godfather of the FPS genre & this sequel/reboot stays true to its classic roots with a straightforward story & shoot ’em up premise, no bells or whistles attached. Set in the 1960’s where the Nazis won WWII, the mission is to take them down from within. But as in Wolfenstein, these aren’t your grandpa’s Germans. These wear heavy mech suits & command killer robots. This game indulges in your “Inglorious Bastards” fantasy in the hours of fun unleashing a hailstorm of bullets on a bunch of Nazis & their minions accompanied by a killer heavy metal soundtrack. Gracefully the plot is surprisingly emotionally compelling with fleshed out secondary characters that you really do care about. Though it can get into B movie status, its great maps & voice work have made me want to play this all over again. Grade B+

Late Game Plays “Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4” By: Hidai Moya

As a major Harry Potter fan I was obliged to play this. The “Lego” games are in fact movie games in a really adorable form. The best thing I can say about it is the fact that you get to explore the grounds of Hogwarts Castle. While you are visiting the Great Hall, walking along the covered bridge, walking around snow covered Hogsmede, & battling dementors at night above the castle grounds, John Williams incredible music is playing in the background. It’s enough solicit an emotional response. Leveling up also syncs with the story as each progressing year Harry learns more powerful spells. The only negative is that Year 4 is rushed since its length is quite short compared to the previous years. This game offers fans of the Potter series an excuse to revisit childhood memories. Grade B
